Fiji: $19m for poverty alleviation

Fiji Islands, March, 02 2007 - The interim government has allocated $19m for poverty alleviation and family assistance grants.

Interim Finance Minister, Mahendra Chaudhry says in addition to this government will also focus on improving people's access to micro-finance and support services by the National Center for Small and Micro Enterprises Development.

"Government's assistance towards improving the livelihoods of our people in rural areas will be enterprise-focused," Mr Chaudhry said.
