Kenya: KWFT Gets Capital Boost for Expansion

Kenya, March, 19 2014 - Kenya Womens Finance Trust has received a Sh1.37 billion capital injection from three new shareholders to boost planned market expansion.

The equity funding is from Norwegian Microfinance Initiative, Rural Impulse Fund and Norwegian Microfinance Initiative Fund III. "The new capital injection will enable more women and their families have access to financial services through an expanded infrastructure," said KWFT managing director Mwangi Githaiga. KWFT is targeting to reach over one million new clients in four years. Githaiga said the funding puts KWFT in a strong financial position to create and introduce more innovative products.
