Sol Bank Grants Credits Above Two Million Dollars

Angola , September, 04 2006 - Banco Sol (bank) granted during the first half of the current year, USD 2.854,621 for consumption credits and micro-credits for health and education professionals, reads a document of the Government.

Included in the Government`s programme for the concession of consumption credits and micro-credits, the referred sum benefited professionals of health and education of the provinces of Luanda, Benguela, Bengo, Bié, Huambo and Huíla.

According to the document delivered to ANGOP this Monday, during the first half of 2006, the number of loans in micro-credits was of 4,449, corresponding to a granted value of USD 367,344, whilst loans for consumption credits was estimated at 1,188, corresponding to USD 2.487, 277.

The consumption credit and micro-credit is a programme of the Angolan Government launched on 17 September 2005, at Bailundo village, central Huambo province and aims at helping professionals of health, education and farmers for the acquisition of goods for consumption and agricultural inputs.

This project, jointly launched by the Sol and Credit and Savings Banks, is estimated at USD 10 million.
