Global, October, 02 2020 - Stockholm-based private equity firm Trill Impact has launched a new investment strategy which will focus on microfinance.

The fund, which is formally known as Trill Impact Microfinance, will be led by its head of microfinancing, Viktor Andersson. It will target institutionals who are willing to invest in the global challenges underpinned by the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The new strategy will specifically seek financial solutions within the geographic focus of emerging & frontier markets.

According to Trill, access to finance and women’s economic opportunities have great potential for investors to support the global sustainability agenda by deploying capital to high-impact private market investments.

Andersson has over 20 years’ experience in sustainable finance and impact investing. He has sourced, structured and built microfinance funds in the impact lending space in emerging and frontier markets in leading Swedish institutions such as Seb and Trine.

Trill Impact was founded in early 2019 by former EQT partner Jan Ståhlberg to deliver attractive returns by investing in companies that benefit from global megatrends, while actively measuring and improving sustainability in each investments.

During his tenure at EQT, Ståhlberg held a number of senior positions, including vice chairman, deputy managing partner and head of mid market globally across Europe, US and Asia.
